Seeing as we're in the process of changing a few things on the forum, I can understand that parts of the current plot are confusing. Let me clarify
The Remnants (Kadaj, Loz, Yazoo) reunited. They found "Mother" (Maleficent lied though and is just using them)
She ordered them to go get Kairi so she could meet her and they could play with her. Subsequently, the boys kinda roughed up RG. Meanwhile, Maleficent was keeping the heroes busy on DI so that "her boys" could work on RG with minimal disturbance.
Kadaj took Kairi. No heartless were involved. There were no witnesses to the actual kidnapping, except for Xion spotting them enter and exit Betwixt and Between (she was hiding there). This is why she went and stole Jack's compass from Kumika's room - so she could follow Kadaj and Kairi and then come back to tell the heroes where they are keeping Kairi.
Only a few canons are a direct part of this little.... side-plot, I guess we can call it.
Another side-plot (that is yet to be completed) is the kidnapping of Hana. She was taken by Vanitas when everyone was at the winter battle tribute ball. That's what Vanitas was taunting Sora about when DI was attacked. Sora's been trying to find Hana for a long time now, which is why he has been very absent from the Keyblade Academy and RG in general. So naturally, he's kicking himself for not protecting Kairi better.
I acknowledge that I haven't been the best at being clear about things plot-wise, so admin team will be working on a few things to improve this.
In the near future, I hope we can set up a post where plots can be posted chronologically. A brief description of the plot, a few words about the intention/goal of the plot, plus a list of the characters needed for the plot.
I also intend for people to be able to comment on this post with their own plots and us admins can add these to the timeline. This way, we can all know what's going on and we can build plots in real time.
